Home Depot - JOHN DEERE PROMOTION
I purchased a JD riding mower on May 8, 2017. First I need it to be delivered (1.7 miles away!) They charged me $69.
I went online that night to see if it would've been cheaper. There are two JD125, only difference is oil capacity. One said free shipping and free yard cart. Went back and The nice customer service guy checked inventory and it said they had 1.
The very unfriendly girl in lawn & garden said it was for an online purchase, even though the paper I had said purchase at retail store OR online. She begrudgingly looked, there wasn't one. She was talking to a manager, so I said that no one mentioned The promo to me. He said 'we had a sign right over there', I said 'it wasn't there yesterday!' He said 'we took it down because we ran out of carts, in fact we sold out of them 1 1/2- 2 weeks ago (promo started May 4th).
Why would they put a sign out? He just basically said I was out of luck. The nice guy called another store that showed they had 2, they had none. They said I could call Home Depot to see if they could do something.
I went home and emailed them about the free cart and also about the $69 shipping fee. I received an email saying again I was out of luck. Never any mention about the shipping fee.
This is the third time in 11 years that they scammed me. After I get my mower I will never shop there again and will also cancel my credit cards!
Reason of review: manager blatantly lied to my face.
Preferred solution: Price reduction.
Home Depot Pros: Person at customer service name is cat.
Home Depot Cons: Manager who lied, 69 dollars for a less than 2 mile delivery, Truthful responses and follow up.

The trucks they use for delivery cost a lot of money and the delivery drivers don't work for the fun of it. You could have picked it up at the store but probably don't own the expensive truck or trailer required to do so.
Of course you could have rented a vehicle and spent your time picking the vehicle up, going to the store and returning the rental. Seems like $69 isn't that much to spend on delivery after all.
