Thought maybe the third time would be a charm - I was wrong. Home Depot rejected my third attempt at sharing my experience with a Werner FS108 8ft fiberglass stepladder.

On their website, Home Depot describes the ladder: "Great value (see reviews)". The problem is that they are REJECTING negative reviews so overall the ladder has 5 stars. Another problem - when reading the reviews, a lot of the reviews are for different ladders - example 6ft ladder. I feel Home Depot is deceiving their customers by REJECTING unfavorable comments.

I feel the ladder is unstable, the spreader bars bent, the ladder collapsed, the ladder was approx. 4 years old. Werner tries to blame the bent spreader bars on the fall, because most people fall on the ladder. I landed on my feet.

The spreader bars were so bent that the ladder would not close. Basically, Werner says that the bent spreader bars and the racking of the ladder were caused because the ladder fell over.

Unfortunately, someone else will get hurt (there have already been numerous complaints). I want as many people as possible to know that Werner and Home Depot are aware of the problem.

Reason of review: Bad quality.

The ladder was 4 years old when it "failed"? Good luck with that one.

I own several ladders, a 6 ft ladder, a 12' ladder that folds into a 6 ft ladder, 2-extension ladders and four (3 step stepstools - throughout my property). The newest was this 8' Werner along with the 3 step gorilla stepstool.

I use the 3 step gorilla the most and it hasn't failed. I've never had a problem with any of my ladders before this. This was the first ladder that I personally purchased (other than stepstools)- and I learned my lesson. I thought "Cool - an 8' ladder for only $72.00".

I think a four year old ladder is fairly new - especially when it's only used less than a dozen times in a year. Of course there will be people like Werner Co.

who think that I must have done something wrong, but I did nothing wrong. Until it happens to you, I don't expect you to understand.

$72 for an 8 ft ladder???? You get what you pay for, sweetie.

You paid CHEAP and you GOT CHEAP ***. You also don't say how much you weigh.

Ladders have weight limits and I'm willing to bet that you are probably beyond that.

Bottom line...STOP being a cheapskate and pay for quality.

Actually - I weigh well below the weight limit of the ladder. The ladder was on sale - original price was $108.00.

I did learn my lesson, but an expensive lesson - Thank goodness I have good health insurance - approx. $68,000 in medical bills. I've recently read articles that state that these cheap ladders are too flexible and "twist" or "walk" while people are doing activities like painting or sanding causing the instability and failure of the ladder. The articles also state that thicker railing on the ladders would help to minimize this.

These cheap ladders should NOT be sold, because MOST PROPLE probably would not know the difference. Most people think that a ladder sold at Home Depot would be a safe investment.

Most people would not realize that they are investing in a potential deadly device. If there was a warning label stating these facts - I would not have bought the ladder.

You again! Read your missive yesterday.

Try this: using someone else's computer, at their home, etc. so that you are not using your computer(HD has put their cookies on it identifying you) and ensuring the other computer is not connected to your internet connection(ISP), try writing a negative review that way.

Just for grins and to see if it will actually "take." Maybe HD doesn't like you but will like the anonymous person you are on a different computer. Use a "nom de plume" for good measure.

Home Depot e-mail states "We encourage you to look over our guidelines below and resubmit your review regarding 8ft. Fiberglass Step Ladder with 250 lb.

Load Capacity Type 1 Duty Rating".

Guidelines: Focus on product, Avoid writing about customer service issues, do not mention competitors or the specific price you paid, do not include any personally identifiable information.

The first time I included the price.

The second and third time I followed the guidelines they sent me, but the review was still REJECTED. Thanks for the suggestion, but I shouldn't have to go computer hopping to submit a review of a product I bought in good faith.
