Home Depot Sold me a lemon. I purchased this Frigidaire Model FFTR1821TS refrigerator over the Memorial Day 2018 holidays. At the time the frig was delivered and set up I did not notice the rather loud noise that it made when it was plugged into the wall.

After it was working a day, I began to notice just how loud in comparison to the refrigerator that had worked for 13 years day after day without me noticing that it was in operation.

This Frigidaire is very noisy. I began to use my decibel meter to make sound level measurements. At first I measured 58.6 DB a day after it was delivered. 14 days later it measured 60.4 DB and 7 days after that it measured 60.8 DB. It was getting louder. And not only is it loud but it makes a lot of noises while in operation similar and close to the sound you hear when a percolator is near the end of making coffee. I can hear it very well all the way across the house and all during the day and night when it first turns on.

I called the number on the delivery invoice and it took me 3 tries over 10 days to report the problem. The first two times I went through the song and dance of menu selection and finally reaching a person the person would put me on hold and I would listen to music for a while and then my call would end.

Well a service guy did come to look at my problem. First, service guys are not there to take care of you. They are there to take care of the company. So after some thought, the solution was to add little rubber like pads that are like 2 x 4 inches and as half as thick as a slice of bread. Several where stuck to the compressor as this model does not have that option. And another one was added around one of the refrigerant lines.

A day after this was done I took taken measurements and the refrigerator has shown very little improvement. It is still loud at 59.6 DB and the pads did nothing for those annoying percolating like sounds.

It is either a defective product or a poorly engineered product. Period. If you buy this model or any model from Home Depot turn off all noise sources in the house and listen to the machine after it is plugged in. If you have a decibel meter measure the sound level. A nighttime reading for a bedroom should be around 17. A night time neighborhood level should be around 35 DB. A normal conversation is 60 DB. My bedroom nighttime level is 20.7, my coffeemaker is at 46.7 while brewing, listening level to my TV is 50.3, my Dell XPS 8900 computer is 30.1 and my Bauer 20 volt drill/driver from Harbor Freight at low speed is 60.8.

And if after your new refrigerator is plugged in and in operation and you think it is too loud, it probably is, so do not accept delivery. Send it back!

The surprise of the day came on June 22, 2018 at 7:35 AM upon checking the DBA of my Chevy V8 truck running while in park and I standing at the passenger door was 55.8 DBA versus the refrigerator at 61.2! My truck is quieter than my refrigerator.

On June 17, 2018 I tried to do a review of the refrigerator on my account. It was a circus. First getting past the menus was a reason to take up drinking. Finally after a while, I got to the part where they ask what it the phone number associated with this purchase. I entered the number and it said the number is not associated with any purchase please call again and enter the correct number. After about 10 minutes I am back to about the same place and I entered the order ID. And it said there was no such order on my account. After another 30 to 40 minutes of getting bounced around from customer care and the data center in Atlanta I was ready for some beer! The problem as I saw it was a database problem. The order number was not linked to my account. A very serious internal Home Depot Data Center problem. Typically from my 40 years in IT, customer care does not link accounts it is a data center support job.

Well the customer care person was clueless as to what I was saying but she gave me the number to Atlanta Data Center. Atlanta said you are a customer and we donโ€™t talk to customers you need customer care and transferred me again. And I finally talked to a person who understood the problem and said she was going to set up a ticket to fix the problem and to check back in a couple of days and my order number should be linked to my account.

Well I did this and that for a few weeks and so on July 15 I logged back on to my account and you are correct. The order number is still missing from my account so I cannot review the purchase.

And so I called back into the HD number and again after about 10 minutes of navigating the menus and again hearing there is no order associated with the number I entered and such I finally got to enter your order number and it said the service center is closed. Call again during the hours of such and such.

There is no joy in Mudville today.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Preferred solution: Full refund.

Location: Porter, TX 77365, USA

A few things for you. No mater what refrigerator you buy today, it will be louder than a 13 year old refrigerator.

They are made differently today. Why are you complaining about Home Depot? If you don't like the refrigerator, your complaint should be with Frigidaire.

If it need repair it is Frigidaire that would be responsible for the repair, not Home Depot. Why aren't you contacting Frigidaire?

I am somewhat confused. You have what you believe to be a defective fridge but instead of contacting Frigidaire you are playing around with Home Depot.

Your new appliance has a warranty from Frigidaire who should be the first place to contact, not the retailer. I understand your frustration with Home Depot's ludicrous "customer service" and most assuredly would stop buying anything from them or even driving past their stores if at all possible but shouldn't you contact the manufacturer of the appliance?
