Have been a Home Depot customer for years and spend up to $10,000.00 (TEN THOUSAND) or more every year.I purchased two shower cartridges today with a store credit card (when I return items I usually put them in a store credit card I carry because I spend a lot of money at Home depot, not because I don't have the receipt or anything). About an hour later, I returned the items because I could not take the old one out so I had to call a plumber.

My return is denied and HD receipt said to call a company TRE. I did and a guy who was extremely rude and unprofessional took my email and hang up. This is something I would consider a suicide by a company who is *** off a customer who spends thousands of dollars a year. OF COURSE I will return items that are not used when the project is over.

If they do not want merchandise returned, they simply need to tell customers, NO RETURNS, which is fine by me. By rejecting a few dollars worth of return, they just lost a perfect customer forever. HD may not be aware that THERE ARE other companies such as Lowes, Mennards just next to their store. What a stupid idea, isn't it.

Keep doing it, you will understand when your name is next to companies like Sears in the history.

Customer is always right, always, always. REMEMBER this.

User's recommendation: DO NOT SHOP AT HOME DEPOT, YOU WILL BE THE NEXT VICTIM.

Monetary Loss: $92.

Preferred solution: Full refund.

Home Depot Cons: Being jerked around.

lol first of all the customer is not ALWAYS right that's just a marketing gimmick made up to make people feel better. they are NOT always right but they are always the customer though.

that being said ANY retailer has the right to deny returns and many use TRE (The Retail Equation) to track those that return without receipts and this is simply due to the high volume of thefts and people returning without receipts. not saying that this is what you're doing. but it is a major reason behind this. also, what amount you spend has no bearing on how the company policy is enforced you could spend $1 or a million it makes no difference.

you could always sign up for a pro xtra account it's a free servie that contracts especially use for purchase tracking. though they use it for other benefits but the tracking is the best feature for normal customers. you can track ANY receipt paid for by ANY means whether it's store credit, credit/debit cards, gift cards, checks, cash, you name it, it can track the receipt and provided it's within the return policy of the items return window you'd be credited back how you purchased it .

the one thing about this I can not speak to is how it handles store credit use even with tracked purchases. I can only explain that returns for store credit without a receipt will eventually generate a refusal either from the store or TRE as was your case.
