After paying for items at the register, put my receipt in my wallet, tried to leave store but was confronted by a store employee who wanted to see receipt, told him I would not show him the receipt and that I didn't have to prove I had not shoplifted the items, he told me he was calling the police, I told him go ahead, instead he got the manager who, despite being told over their public intercom speakers I had purchased the items, told me to leave and not come back to "his" store. Reported the incident to Home Depot and have not received a response from them.

Now Lowes gets all my business, (thousands of dollars per year). They are back to their old, back attitude employees of past years.

obviously you are a thief! I'm surprised you didn't go to jail, but you and your Obama supporter friends are why we are in such a mess today anyway.

You obviously stole the items, even if you did fail to show the receipt they would not ban you for no reason, and if you have nothing to hide show the receipt. Also what is that *** about them editing the tapes and framing you that you posted on planetfeedback?

Yes, the store can ASK for a receipt, and the customer CAN refuse to show it. Note that the customer was NOT detained for shoplifting because the clerk did not have knowledge of a crime and the store would get there *** sued off. There are laws against unreasonable search and seizure in the U.S., but anyone is free to immigrate to a Socialist or Communist country if they don't like our laws.

::Yes, a store has a right to check for a receipt when you are leaving the store to assure the product was paid for.Only a thief would object to showing a receipt. An honest person who wants to keep their prices down would have no objection to producing a receipt for a product they were leaving with.::

I disagree.

Particularly at places like Wal-Mart at holiday time. They expect you to wait in line at the checkout, then many of them want you to wait in line so they can look at your receipt.

If you wanna glance at it as I walk by, great. But I'm not standing in line for 30 minutes just so you can look through my stuff.

Again, how many times do I have to mention this, those who quote vague large amounts of money are full of it. News just in, thousands is nothing post in the 2000 century. And lets not forget to mention Lowes :) I tell you these shills love promoting for free.

I had a similar situation, I had just purcased several hundred dollars worth of goods at a Home Depot and was getting ready to leave the store when my wife said she needed to use the rest room. I pushed the heavy cart to the side of the door so as not to block it. Five minutes later my wife returned and I started to push the cart out of the store when a cashier stopped ringing a customer up and ran towards me grabbing the cart screaming "sir, did you pay for this?"

I could see everyone around staring and said to her "you just rang me out five minutes ago and showed her the receipt." She replied "you didn't go through my line" and I said "your name is on the receipt as the cashier!" Needless to say I have never returned to that store again.

ALL STORES HAVE THE RIGHT TO ASK FOR A RECEIPT as you leave the store. One prime example is Walmart, they almost always ask me if I have 1 UN-begged item.

Seeing how you said no they can and will assume you're a thief. It's my stores Policy (Menards) check receipts when people leave the store if you did not seem them check out, even if the items are begged.

" Now Lowes gets all my business" I'm sure all the Lowes employees are elated to have you there, your highness. :sigh

I'm guessing *** like this happens to you all the time... "how dare they ask me for a receipt....I have rights you know"...

now you have the right to shop somewhere else. I am betting you left out the part where you were probably a complete #&ck *ss to the manager and employee.

Managers don't usually ban customers that complain in a civil manor. Sometimes the squeeky wheel gets the grease and sometime it just gets removed!!!!!

Why wouldn't you show the receipt? It shouldn't have been that large of problem to get it out of your wallet. In a way you brought this on yourself, by showing attitude.
