Home Depot Extended Warranty is Useless!

I bought a dish washer and the extended warranty for the school I am the director of from home depot a few years back. It breaks down and keep in mind, we have over 100 students that we feed every day, so I give them a call requesting a repair. They scheduled a service for us Friday, the 16th of September. Not only does nobody show up, nobody calls to let us know that the appointment was 'cancelled'. I get on the phone Monday and was passed around to three different VERY rude and unhelpful people telling me that the Friday appointment was cancelled, not giving a reason, and let me know they would have someone out on the 26th of September... This is absolutely unacceptable considering I run a school, and a week without a dish washer is nearly impossible. Not only would they refuse to bump up the service appointment but when I requested that they just reimburse me for finding my own plumber, they said they would not do that either. I will never, ever buy another appliance from home depot again and their customer service was so horrible they clearly have incompetent staff without the ability to manage a single customer complaint correctly.

Commercial Use not covered. At a minimum you can get a refund on the plan - technically this is a fraudulant sale. Find an authorized servicer through the mfr website.

Guest

always but the oem manufacturer warranty. as those big box extended warranties are ***

Guest

Is this a commercial dishwasher or a residential type? Running dishes for 100 people per day through a residential dishwasher and expecting it to NOT breakdown seems kind of silly, though the treatment you recieved at the store level seems unacceptable.

Guest

It won't cover the repair of your DW in your situation anyway. It doesn't cover commercial usage.

Home depot sucks

I went to home depot over a month ago to order a front door. A month later my door has finally arrived and they still don't know when they can install my door. It took them over 1 1/2 weeks to do a measure and 14 more days for the door to come in. Now i have to wait until those lazy bastards are back from the holidays to install my *** door. I will NEVER do business with Home Depot again! It should not take this got *** long to nuy and have a door installed. I knew i should have called the mexicans THEY GET *** DONE!

Carpenter, you need to buy some punctuation marks.

You know, commas and periods and the such...

Guest

Lets see you bought a door just before Thanksgiving which was obviously a special order and expect installers to install on Thanksgiving? Installers are human and have families too Being busy shows that you are in demand so your quality work is worth waiting for unlike the guys waiting around the parking lot waiting impatient jerks to hire them By the way Ive fixed their disasters too

Guest

Call their 1-800 number and see how fast they jump to install your door.

Trying to get a class action against Home Depot by Contractors

I am contractor and Home Depot has cost us many jobs, time, and customers. If you or your business have had these problems please contact us at RussellAllan1@***.com. Problems weve encountered are products being unfit for homeowners projects, getting the run around by managers and employees, and being lied to about the quality control that occurs at Home Depot stores. We have will called items and everything in the store is scuffed, door jams out of square, trim needing a whole day of filling, sanding, and painting. We have also had problems with a $600 DeWalt compound saw being 3 degrees off as well as slab doors having to be returned, getting the new ones back to the job, and they look worse than the first set. If you have had these problems please contact us because we are looking for confirmation that we are not the only ones because that is what our Home Depot is telling us and we need others to support our claim and possibly be involved in a class action against Home Depot because this big box store is driving small contractors out of business as well as making money by providing faulty sub contractor installation. We would love to speak with anyone with these problems.

When you bought more after the items you got were damaged why would not check the quality before leaving the store. THEN if they were damaged you simply say ...."Hey Mr Depot these are damaged can we get another one...?" WTF ?

Guest

I'm a general contractor that did 2 residential jobs for the Bank . H D is the umbrella contractor and hired by a gen contractor smith construction in ca.

Horrible experience ! I was told I would be paid in 3 weeks and almost 120 days I'm still waiting for payment .

Stay away from this program. I'm waiting for $ 18,000.00

Guest

The real victims are the customers who hire Home Depot for an installation of a product. HD subcontracts the work out to a company which subcontracts it out once more.

Because there is so little meat left on the bone for the end installer the jobs are rushed and usually done improperly.

Most contractors are scam artists anyway, with little real expertise and just as much desire to do top quality work. This guy doesn't even know how to true up a saw.

Guest

If your doctor botches an operation do you sue the bandage supplier or the doctor?

If you can't install products properly or set up a saw correctly I think you'll find the reason staring at you in the mirror.

Guest

Sue, sue, sue. That's all you lazy contractors can do if you don't get your way. Why don't you go to Menards and get some really low quality items to complain about.

Guest

Sounds like you need some business management classes as well as directions to a new lumber company. what department are the nails in ?

Guest

If you don't like the quality of what you are buying there go somewhere else. You were not forced to keep buying at Home Depot. Any judge in their right mind would tell you that you are the fool for continuing to shop at a store where you feel the quality is not up to your standards.

Offered a very cheap settlement for a botched kitchen reno

After a year and a half and a botched kitchen reno today we were given the settlement offer. The story in itself is so long that u would not believe how only the microwave actually worked. And the deceit to get any money back from them for doing a kitchen floor over 5 times in order to get a lousy $400 check made them all powerful. Coercion and deceit to sign a release for the entire floor just to get $400. WOW. The settlement from this billions of dollar company, HOME DEPOT, was $500 and a $900 frig crediting the lemon that they sold us was their idea of a great settlement. In saying no, I am stuck with the bad frig and have to keep repairing it until Amana says otherwise. I would say 4 words. SEE U IN COURT!

Three times I used Home Depot..SAD

Three years I gave Home Depot a try and they failed in my eyes each time. First: Carpet install took three times. 1)unrolled carpet was torn by fork left, so I was told. 2)second install two halfs different colors. 3)one length ordered and installed correctly two months later. Second: Two doors. Same day installation Great. But one door was left with entrance metal plate with NO support underneath. Screws would of pulled plate off walking across it daily. Front Door OK, but installer left a mess with his saw useage. Third: Two windows replaced. 1: went in fine by installer, quick, clean, quite. But then didn't think other window was measured correctly and he didn't have enought frame wood to do the install correctly. All I heard was all their in house problems of money and difference at our expense of not getting our window installed. The installer who measured the window, put the window in with NO problems. Home Depot needs LESS people involved. why have Boss, Sales, Installer and contractor? Just need Sale person and installer. Also in their stores lots of people who run and hide instead of paying those who know more money to help the Customer. Everyone needs more training and Team workers.

Follow up to Home Depot Complaint

Just a follow up to the complaint against Home Depot for ruining a kitchen reno. They sent me a cheap offer and for all of u out there, use the Dept. of Consumer Complaint or go and sue them in small claims court or whatever suits your needs. A cheap company is a cheap company. A company that is the biggest in home improvement in this country deserves its day in court for screwing the consumer and their almost fraudulent tactics are nothing to sneeze at. There is a difference between legal and moral. Forge ahead and do not be afraid of what u believe in.

Hot Water Heater Installation - services thru Home Depot contracted with Gem Plumbing is a no show.

Our hot water heater sprang a leak and needed to be replaced ASAP. Researched online at HomeDepot.com for their products and installation services. On the HomeDepot website, it states that one should call a toll free number to speak to a representative. We placed our call in the late evening (@9:30pm) thinking we would not get a person; however, eventually we spoke to a representative and explained our situation. The service provider through HomeDepot is Gem Plumbing. We were given a price (a bundle price of $937 included tank, permit, installation and disposal) and was told someone would be at the home the next day between 12-4 and the technician would call 1/2 hour before showing up. It was the fastest they could do. We were hoping the heater wouldn't go before then.

Arrangements were made to be available between 12-4. A major inconvenience for a window of 4 hours but it was understood that it needed to be done. It is now 3:45 & I get the feeling that no one is coming. When a call is placed to the number listed on HomeDepot.com, they inform me that they have no record of the call order.

After expressing my dissatification and frustration, they researched the call from the night before and verify that we did call (as if I would lie about it) but they can't explain why it wasn't in the system. They offered two possible reasons: 1. They have been experiencing computer problems recently and this may have been the cause of the problem. 2. The representative didn't completely process the request.

The manager did try to rectify the problem by scheduling a service call for the next day and provide a small discount for our troubles. However, the reason for calling was to get someone out to the house ASAP especially now that we were into the leak 2 days with the possibility of the hot water heater *** all over the basement and damaging the items.

I will not use HomeDepot for any kind of installation services. Not only did I lose a half day's pay, I also had to find another company that could do the work. Luckily, I did find someone who came out within 1 hour of my call and the price was $100 less than what I was quoted with HomeDepot/Gem Plumbing. I should have called them first and next time I will.

No Military Discount

When I go into The Home Depot in Biloxi to our west, they offer a Military discount 365 days a year. Our local Lowes in Pascagoula on offers it on Veterans- memorial-and July 4th. And if you ask the store Manager-Mr. Depriest- You get a smart answer something to the effect of "then maybe you should shop at the Depot its only 30 miles away. He's a real piece of work. I can't believe Lowes would put a guy like that as manage of their store. A lot of local people have been insulted by this store manager. We need to band together and boycott this store.

I was told today that as of 1 June. I would have to use a Lowe's credit card and shop on line to get my military discounts!

Bull *** You know what? Keep your discount.

If serving your country is not worth a Bull *** discount in the store, maybe we are shopping at the wrong store or maybe your store is in the wrong country! Captain USN/MM ret.

Guest

Im confused...is your complaint that you feel entitled to a discount and think that you should band together with others to force your views on Lowe's? In America, Lowe's can offer a discount to whomever they choose...or not offer discounts. And, yes, if you want to save 10%, you can drive to a store that's 30 miles away.

Special Services are a Joke!

I shop at the Kailua, Kona Home depot, and have done so for years, spending thousands of dollars there. Within the last two years their personel and associates have been on a steady decline except for a sparing few, who are genuinely interested in helping you! Just recently I attempted to order a battery for one of the many cordless tools that I have purchased from Home Depot in Kona! In my phone call attempt to place the order with their special services desk, I was shuttled back and forth 5 times on the phone until I finally gave up because no one could help me except for the recording that says all of our associates are helping others so please stay on the line. I would have gladly and much rather have ordered it myself, but I was not able to locate the item on 'Home Depots' website! I have read some of the other complaints about their service and personel and it shows a pattern of disregard, in their policies, staff all the way up to the President or CEO! I am taking my business to Lowes!

Allure Ultra Flooring- very difficult to install

We were told the floor install would be easy. Well, after three veteran do it yourselfers tried we ended up forcing it together, there was no "clicking" as they say in the instructions.I would not recommend this flooring to anyone. Goes together nicely when you are holding it in your hands, but not on the floor, especially the second and subsequent rows.Sure would like to see one of their installers put it in.The seams never seated properly, we had to finish the job because renters were moving in real soon.Difficult to trim and cut also, good luck.

We bought 21 cases- for our 1200 square foot basement level. It took me a good 8 hour just to do the main room, but I had to make a lot of specialty cuts.

I use a new utility blade frequently because this stuff dulls them big time. I too had no problem scoring and snapping, but like the author, I had no "click" that I was told I would hear and feel. I actually used a rubber mallet during install. I ended up with some tiny gaps in places, but mostly because my subfloor was an old slab with ancient adhesive residue and some pitting and other issues.

Once a gap is present, it propagates through all subsequent rows because you're staggering the planks. That first row is super-crucial. It's gotta be perfectly aligned.

I am please with the result and it would have been better on a perfect subfloor. ;)

Guest

I, too, have installed the Allure product and have had no issues to speak of. Cuts with a straight edge and utility knife like butter.

Guest

We have installed Allure flooring in 5 rooms and LOVE IT! We used the cherry finish. It was super easy to install and looks amazing.-no, I don't work for the company, just love the product and the end results.

I installed 1500sqft of Allure Vinyl Planking. It took two of us 4 days - a little longer then anticipated.

It goes down very quickly and easy until you get to the doorways and closets - that is what slowed us down.

Looks great - inexpensive. $1.70 sqft vs $6.00 sqft for hardwood - how could you complain.

Sold bad refrigerator and receive poor customer service

I bought a new LG refrigerator from Home Depot 3 years ago with a 4 yr extended service warranty. In the past 3 years my refrigerator has broken down 2 times and I have been without a refrigerator for the past 2 1/2 weeks. I asked Home Depot to provide me with a new refrigerator (I was willing to pay any difference in cost) as the current refrigerator has been nothing but difficult and I has struggled to have the repairs down in a timely manner. Home Depot did not provide any type of compensation for lost food and did not recognize the lack of customer support or inconvenience of being without a refrigerator for over 2 weeks and counting. I have been trapped in a situation of waiting for a repair that ultimately will not last or taking my business elsewhere.

Actually, it's my understanding that the extended warranty is supposed to pay for food spoilage up to $250.00. My suggestion would be, to contact the toll free number on your extended warranty contract.

And no, Home Depot is not going to replace your fridge...they shouldn't either.

That is the responsiblity of your extended warrant. I wouldn't purchase an LG if you offered me one for free.

You can claim lost food with your homeowner's insurance. You paid for an extended "service" contract, not a replacement contract. You are thus not entitled to a new fridge, just repairs to get the old one up and running.

The Home Depot At- Home-Services

Roofing and gutter job-signed on with Home Depot at home services two and a half months later the job began during the month of December in wisconsin. Needless to say; snow fell and freezing temperatures made a simple project outstretch for a month. Almost a year later and hundreds of phone calls/e-mails later I have found that the employee's change frequently and must take all the files with them because the new person can't find the 100 plus page file on your claim or service. The insurance they state they carry is ****. They are the worst
