Declined Credit

I have an 800+ Credit Score. Cashier schmoozed me into applying for card to save $25.00 on a $65.00 garden purchase. Then I gave personal information, 10 minutes later I had to talk with a Credit Rep over the phone who wanted more info. The Point is.... The whole thing turned into a Negative Customer Experience. Home Depot should/would love to have card holders like me. I have a perfect payment history on EVERYTHING for 20 years. INSTEAD, Home Depot has lost a good customer forever who will now go to Lowes and other stores nearby. Perhaps Home Depot should revisit their approach and criteria for their credit card. My credit score alone should have been enough.

Failed to install 2 garden doors

contracted for 2 doors - paid the 20% down plus a measure fee - doors were measured - ordered - when the install date arrived we didn't receive a call - several days later I went to the store - the doors were there - "the install company we use dint show up" - it was rescheduled - again no one showed up - Back to the store - "we will give you a 20% discount" - then we rescheduled - took off work again - as they said Saturdays aren't install days - got a call from the installer - "those doors wont fit" - back to the store - "it appears these will need to be custom ordered doors - the price will double on each door" - w asked them to honor the price - nope - either pay the difference or cancel it -- wrote a letter - the response was a call from the same store mgr - you got your deposit back! we contracted thru Angie's list - they found standard doors - no reconstruction as Depot claimed - at half the price!!!

Aggressive calling over missed payment

Winter 2014 was grueling for everyone. I Missed 64.00 dollars home despot payment. Household was then subjected to 8 -9 rude calls from citicommerce collections. Day and evening and Sundays. Unrelenting, despite giving date I would deliver payment. We Have spent thousands with HD on renovations, gardening over years. Aggressive calling allowed in my state of Virginia, apparently. Intruded upon me at work even. New interest rates reflect usury, unconstitutional and un-Biblical, if you research. Lowe's shall be building a superstore even closer. I am sorry for your dedicated associates who have been so kind over these years. Estranged customer,Kathryn Kelly

First of all Home Depot didn't call you. The credit company that issued the card with their name on it called you. Second of all pay your bills on time!

Guest

Why do you losers complain about being harassed when you don`t pay your bills. Do the adult thing and pay them on time and you won`t be harassed. I bet if people owed you money you would not be so mellow and forgiving.

Guest

Pay your bills and you won't get calls from bill collectors. Your irresponsibility brought this on yourself.

Guest

First of all Home Depot didn't call you. The credit company that issued the card with their name on it called you.

When you signed up for the card you agreed to pay them.

I expect you are more than a month past due as credit companies don't turn accounts over to the collection department in the first month. Pay your bill and the calls and late payment charges will stop.

Guest

This could have prevented had you held up your end and made your payments on time. Telling them that you'll pay them at some point in the future is useless.

I'm sure many deadbeats tell them the same thing just to get rid of them.

Had you missed payments with Lowes, I'm sure you'd get the same calls, so don't think Home Depot is unique.

4 Weeks to deliver missing part for New Washer/Dryer.

Ordered $2,000 worth of washer and dryer. Scheduled delivery, they turned up, removed our old working washer/dryer, then said we haven't got a stacking part - they'll send it out, leaving us with out a working washer or dryer. It took over 4 weeks of constant calls and complaints before we had to go to the store and collect the missing part ourselves. We were still charged for 'instatallation' even although we had to install it our selves. Unfortunately people will only see this review once they have been bitten by home depot. - Will never be using that company again, go to lowes for better service.

I agree with you on going to Lowe's. We have bought half a dozen appliances from them in the past few years and have always had quick, efficient delivery and set up with them taking away the old ones. Home Depot seems to have many problems of late.

Home Depot $37.00 whole house carpet install ..DON'T YOU BELIEVE IT !!!

After I bought 3 rolls of carpet and a full roll of padding from Home Depot, that had not yet been pickup from the store, they begain offering an advertised special of whole house installation with the purchase of $499.00 of any Home Depot carpet and the purchase of home depot padding. After asking a flooring associate about the special and explaining that I had already purchased the carpet at another HD location and had bought the padding from their location, I asked if I would still be eligible for this installation special and was told yes, because I had met the price requirements however I must still pay $35.00 for the HD measuring contactor to come to my home and measure.

So I did that after going to the location were the carpet was located because they told me to so my carpet could stay at the store longer. After doing everything the associates told me to do and paying to have them come out to measure , now that want to tell me despite what there ad saids it actually means you have to buy carpet and padding at the same time. This is not how the ad reads, it reads "BUY ANY HD CARPET AND PAD AND GET THE ENTIRE INSTALLATION FOR $37.00", not you have to buy them at the same time in order to qualify for this special. After going back and forth with them about a ad I had not hand in writing and having the exremely rude mgr.at store #0123 on Jonesboro Rd.

In Atlanta tryi g to charge me an extra fee and then trying to make me believe I didn't understand what I was reading and them to get corporate involve only to have her to also try in insult my intelligence only irritated me more.

Long story short they refused to honor their ad as it read and for all my delays and aggravation instead of trying to keep a longtime customer happy HD dropped the ball. I'll be returning my HD card and taking my business to Lowe's where they do believe in customer service.

I find Home Depot to be the worst for sales, here they are selling Home Improvement items, however, they don't have associates that are trained to sell, when you do find one they are trying to fix a huge issue that was created buy an inexperienced associate. Lowe's does have quality associate.

I know because I am a vendor and service both stores. You want quality and service, go to Lowe's, you want people with experience in the products they are selling go to Lowe's.

By the way, most defending comments on here are probably Home Depot associates and managers. If they would go back to paying associates a decent wage they would probably be able to hire people who are willing to work and learn, not just hang out and collect a pay check!

Guest

did you say lowes and customer service. now that's funny

Guest

Sounds like you may have a few problems with the promotion. 1st, of course you would be expected to buy the carpet and pad together, not at different times at different stores.

You also state that the promotion started after your purchase. Typically an offer like this has a start and and end date and if your purchases were outside those dates they wouldn't qualify either.

Toxic chemicals not disclosed, floor coming up

I hired Home Depot to install a new laminate floor which Home Depot contracted out to Carpet Pros. Long story short is Carpet Pros brought toxic leveling cement into my house with out notifying me either before or after and then took 7 days to come back to continue the job during which time all my floors with this toxic cement were exposed and one of my foster rescue cats unknowingly walked through this days later and the dust got on his paws and days later was showing signs of being sick so I took him to the vet and was told he had ingested toxic chemicals which turned out to be the leveling cement secretly used by Carpet Pros. My foster rescue cat then had to spend 2 weeks at the vet with an IV and meds which cost over $2,000.00 dollars. Now Home Depot says they aren't responsible for the toxic chemicals and that its my fault for remaining in my house and Home Depot and Carpet Pros still won't even fix my floors which are still incomplete 2 months after it was suppose to be complete. Don't do business with Home Depot, go anywhere else and don't do business with their installer, CARPET PROS. I even have the vet signing off on this being the cause but Home Depot and Carpet Pros don't care since they can bully around customers given their size and money to fight these issues. I can't afford a lawyer and none will work this case on a contingency fee basis so my next resort is to drag Home Depot's name and Carpet Pros name through the mud and let everyone know what awful and deceitful companies these both are.

Also bad foster commentor, the installer was supppose to finish in two back to back days. They left after the first day and actually only put in 4 hours when they were suppose to be there all day. They didn't return for 7 days and I only live in a condo and since I had no idea there were toxic chemicals I had no way to know I shouldn't be living in the house during this time.

Hey Badfoster commentor, I did tell Home Depot I had foster and it was actually printed in the work order so the installer had those instructions but still never disclosed the toxic chemicals. Whats also bad is this flooring is coming up in every room.

Guest

It is wrong of you to blame either business. You should have let them know that you may have special installation needs.

Getting laminate flooring would be common knowledge that there would be some materials that may cause adverse reactions to people or pets. It would be YOUR responsibility to inquire about this. I would never expect ANY company to just randomly disclose all product ingredients unless the client asks. Further, you should have kept your foster cats and or any other pets away from the exposed products.

Shame on you for letting that cat, that was fostered to your care, get sick. Hm, poor judgement and neglect.

No Delivery

We ordered a new cook stove a week before Thanksgiving. We were guaranteed delivery prior to Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving came and went with no stove. Try cooking Thanksgiving with no oven!! We called and they told us that it would be delivered on Dec. 9th. We called over the weekend of Dec. 7 & 8 to confirm that delivery would be made. Well, Dec. 9th came and went too. We called again on Dec. 9th asking where is the cook stove? They told us it was never purchased and there was no set delivery. Here we confirmed delivery three times prior to Dec. 9th and again early morning on Dec. 9th. They still confirmed the date and time for delivery, however, delivery was never made. After talking with the manager at the Peoria store location we went elsewhere and purchased a cook stove and it was delivered this morning and is now set up. We will NEVER do business with Home Depot again!!! One hand does not know what the other hand is doing. Very unorganized company. The manager (Phil) tried to blame it on their delivery company. If the delivery company is that bad they need to get a new delivery system cause they lost a whole lot of customers over this deal. I live in a small community and word travels fast. They did not EVEN try to rectify the situation and make the customer happy. Home Depot you get an F for customer service!!

Getting a bad feeling as I looked up who does delivery for HD appliances.

The carrier is Spirit (Chicago) & gets awful reviews online. Will consider myself lucky if the washer & dryer shows up at all.

Malfunctioned dryer refused to exchange

On August 23th, 2013, we purchased a unitized washer and dryer on the Home Depot website. The unit was delivered and installed, by Home Depot people, on August 25, 2013. After only a few uses, the dryer no longer worked. A service person, from GE, came to look at the unit and advised that something was wrong with the vent, in the condo, which when it reached a certain temperature, caused the dryer to be damaged and unusable. They said that the damaged parts, in the dryer could be replaced but that the same thing would happen again, when the dryer was used. We checked with the management office for the condo community (at least 200 unites) and the had never heard any such thing or ever experienced this problem. When we got back with GE, we were then told that either the vent, to the outside, was blocked or that it exceed the allowable distance of 16 feet. In order to ensure that there was nothing wrong, with the vent, we had it checked, at our own expense. We were advised that there was nothing wrong, with the vent itself and , after cleaning the entire system, to the outside of the building, we were advised that there was very little lint in there, certainly not enough to cause any type of problem. We have checked the instruction booklet regarding this issue. The recommended maximum length is 33 feet with one elbow, 22 feet with two elbows . Therefore our vent system is within the recommended maximum length. GE came back a second time and replaced the damaged parts and told us the dryer could not be used above the delicate setting and even then, may not work , very long. Now there is burning smell when even use it at delicate cycle. We are very afraid it could cause fire, so we stop using it. We are now approximately 2 month past when the dryer first became unusable. We made multiple trips, the approximately 50 miles to Wilmington, DE to try and rectify the problem. We made a good faith purchase of a GE product, from Home Depot and have had nothing but problems, since. We are now, almost a ping pong ball being bounced between, GE and Home Depot, each denying responsibility and more than once changing their stories. We have, from the outset, made it clear that all we want to do is get the useless unit returned, get credit for it and purchase another unit from another manufacturer. The complete lack of cooperation, from GE and Home Depot and what, at times, certainly seems to be their dishonest business practices have made this impossible.

IMHO you got a *** dryer. GE makes good (not great, but good), reliable appliances just like (for example) Ford makes the F-150.

Most F-150s are great vehicles, but occasionally a lemon comes through the assembly line. That's the nature of mechanical equipment. My guess is that another dryer (same model) will fix the problem. BTW I assume that a different dryer has been used in this same room with no problem.

Please see the GM at your local Home Depot.

The GM has the authority to fix all this with the stroke of a pen. If he won't go with you call his boss at corporate.

Crooked/calculated limit lowering - even though paying down the balance

Home Depot in my opinion is the crookedest creditor I have ever come in contact with. After the recession hit they lowered my limit from $19k to $9100 - which was less then I owed. I chalked it up to the recession and started paying them off with payments that were more than the minimum and were paying off the balance. They re-payed me by lowering my available credit (called chasing the balance by them) every 3 months to less than what I owed. For two years. Because they don't charge an over limit fee, they DO NOT EVEN HAVE TO NOTIFY YOU. They do it in a cold, calculated effort to screw up your credit. BECAUSE THEY CAN INCREASE YOUR INTEREST TO 29.99% (in CA) IF YOUR CREDIT SCORE GOES DOWN, EVEN IF YOU MISS NO PAYMENTS TO THEM. So even though I'm paying them on time, I'm continually over my limit and ruining my credit score (ITS GENIUS) ensuring 30% interest. Problem is I'm paying them off and will never set foot in a Home Depot again as long as I live and spend my spare time telling this story :). If you found this complaint via a search engine, it probably happened to you also. Good luck - they are laughing.

We don't like the fact that they expect seniors, or others who use their H D card, to verbally say that they would like the 5% Home Depo card discount at the check out. If the customer forgets to say " Please give me the discount", then they don't and won't

get it.

How come people need to verbally ask ?? This isn't right. Other stores either give you the discount or they bring it up if the customer doesn't.

Not right at all..... :(

Guest

GE Capital deals with Lowes. Please post comments to the correct area. Home Depot is not adjusting your credit.

Guest

You need to get your facts straight. Home Depot does not make the decisions when credit is concerned.

You need to complain to Citi Bank, who runs the credit for Home Depot, NOT Home Depot. Again you are complaining about the wrong company. Shop at Lowes if you want, Citi Bank also does the credit for them.

Get a Life, do your research. Id*ot

Guest

I agree, their so called "credit review of my credit history" ended with them lowering my credit line to my previous balance. Now my balance is over that limit due to the interest being added after a special no interest period of some project items that I purchased in the past.

I am now over the limit and my credit is being destroyed even worse. What a *** company!

Lowes, you have my business!! *** Home Depot!!!!!

San Diego store had employees that lied/dumb about on-hand stock.

I called about a "FULL FACE" Respirator and on the phone was told that they have them in stock. I go to the store and see one brand of one model of a generic cartridge respirator that covers only mouth and nose. I find an older, mustached, male employee with glasses in the adjacent aisle, and ask about "FULL FACE respirators not being in stock. He looks at me like I am dumb and says, "sure we have them, they're in the next aisle." I go back and check high and low carefully and the item is still not there. I get the guy over to show me and he can't. "Well we can special order one for you," he says. I needed one that day, that is why I had called to confirm IN STOCK. Apparently the description of FULL FACE escaped the chick on the phone and the "specialist" in the store. I had already been to Target, K-mart, a "paint store" and another hardware place to find one. Home Depot especially should have a full face respirator in stock, since it is so *** large a store and company and needs to stay competative with Lowe's (They didn't have it either). Buildings are everywhere, as are cars and many other things that have paint inside and out, so a full face respirator (at least one model) should be IN-STOCK in every hardware or home improvement store. San Diego stores ought to be ashamed for *** service and selection. Hire people that know that a respirator is not the same as a *** dust mask for starters! Then, have them pay ATTENTION to the words of a customer used as quantifiers and qualifiers a.k.a. adjectives, and if an employee does not know something with surety that they'd bet their life on it, then go find the F out! Don't lie on the *** phone or assume to the customers face while sounding like you think the customer is wrong, when they are not. Granted, I worked in food service and a hardware store before, and yes, mostly the customers have been wrong in my experience. I however am one of those persons that is nearly always right and am hated by many for it. I "make (them) look dumb." Smart people don't get mad at someone else for being correct and recognizing a flaw, they get upset at themselves for the failure, and improve a weakness to a strength. Mostly all people and company leads on the planet need to adopt such an adage.

Waited a month for Home Depot warranty to repair my LG washer and it still is not fixed

I purchased an LG washing machine Model # WT5101H on 11/27/2010. From HOME DEPOT and I also purchased the Home Depot extended 4 year warranty plan. It was a $1100.00 washer on sale for $749.00 . On 10/6/2013 the machine broke down. I called Home Depot's warranty center on 10/7/2013 to have the washer repaired an they set up an appointment two days later on the 9th and said the repair man would be there between 8am & noon. So on the 9th I received a call around 11am from the repairman and said he would be there around 5pm. When he got there he looked at the machine an said the whole motor assembly would have to be replaced an that it would take 10 to 14 days to get the part which I thought was ridiculous. The next day I called an LG service and was told it only takes 24 to 48 ours to get the parts. So then I called Home Depot Warranty and told them what I found out, and I was told that they could no authorize any one else to repair it. I waited until 10/29/2013 and called them again and was told that the claim was not authorized yet. I could not believe it, nothing had been done, the parts weren’t even ordered . Then I asked to talk to a manager. When I talked to the manager I was told the same thing and there was nothing she could do about it. I lost it;;;;; Then when I told her I was going to report it to the BBB, and a local news TV channel she then connected me to another person by the name of Aron. I had to explain every thing I went thru and he told me that he would have to find out what actually happened because that it only takes minutes to get this authorization not weeks. He told me that he would find out what happened an would call me back. About 45 minutes later he did call me back an said he had found the problem but he would not disclose it to me. Then he told me that he got everything straightened out and that the parts were in stock and that he had talked to the service man and promised me that it would be repaired on or before Monday 11/4/2013, he also gave me his phone number so that I could call him back if there was still a problem and that he would call me on Tuesday the 5th to make sure that the repairs were made, So I waited until Monday the 4th of November and decided to call the service center that was suppose to do the repairs and was told that the parts were on order and haven't come in yet. So then I called Aron at Home Depot warranty and ended up leaving a message on his answering machine about this but he never called me back, He never called me back on Tuesday either. So know here it it almost a month later and still don't have a washing machine to use.

No call, no show appliance delivery!

Ordered a 1k+ refridgerator a month ago. Scheduled a delivery day.

Got a automated phone call last night CONFIRMING delivery today between 8-12. No delivery came, no phone call. Called delivery number and was told "product back ordered, it's not on the truck." I asked why I got a "confirmation" call and why I took off work today. Lady rudely stated she doesn't now and to call "warehouse" and disconnected.

I canceled order and took my business to Lowe's who price matched. I will never do business with Home Depot again.....lost about 400 not working today.

Pissed! No way to run a business.

Take them to small claims court. That would be awesome if you have a recording of the delivery confirmation call, or if you can get someone to admit their system did in fact make that call.

Installation Nightmare

In May I signed a contract with Home Depot for new siding. The sales agent, Greg, promised that the installation would be done by the end of June. In July Home Depot informed me that my product would be delivered soon. On July 29th a contaractor team was dropped off in a white van. No one had any badges and there was no manager on site. They started to destroy my wood shutters. I tried to tell them I was keeping them in both English and Spanish. I got no reply. One of the guys cut himself and threw bloody tissues and bandages all over my driveway. I did not notice this until they had left. My two year old son and dog picked up the bandages. My two year old son had blood on his hands. The men also piled my shutters and other debris on top of my newly planted rose bushes (that I had purchased from Home Depot). The second day different men came and one went and peed in my neighbors yard near his five year old daughters window. My neighbor called me and I went outside and yelled at the guy. The men continued to dispose of my shutters even after my installation manager "Doug" told them not too. Doug called them off the job but they still stayed until I called Doug four times. Then a new team showed up the next day. These were professional people that cleaned up after themselves and did not *** on my neighbors property. However, they ran out of material and more material had to be ordered. Doug told me that the job would be complete in between 3 and 5 days. The contractors told me ten days. So I thought about 10 days would be about right. On day 11 I begin to call Doug to ask him what the holdup is and he does not take my calls. I had a tree scheduled to be taken down and the debris left on my lawn (damaging my lawn) was in the way of the removal. The company I was getting the tree removed by is on my street and told me that they could not take the tree down with that debris there. The debris sat there from July 29th to August 11th. It killed the grass that I bought from Home Depot and planted there because it is hard to grow grass on my lawn. Now I have to do that again. Doug finally agreed to have the debris removed and actually ended up doing it himself. However, it has now been more than ten day or even 14 days. I keep calling Doug to see what the problem is but he avoids my phone calls, hangs up when he knows its me, forces me to call from different numbers, and generally ignores the situation. Home Depot than gives me the number of Terry, another installation manager. Terry is great with customer service and calling people back but the only answer he can give me is "I have to ask Doug" or "I don't schedule Doug's teams". This becomes very annoying as he has no answers for me. Again I call the 1-800 number for help and they try to call Doug and get no response. I call the 1-800 number five times and get nowhere. In the mean time water started coming into a window that water had never came in before staining my wall and damaging my floor. (I have been told by Terry that an insurance claim would have to be opened up by Doug who does not take my phone calls.) The men come over to work 19 days later but don't have enough material to finish the job. They do stop the leak that was caused by an open J Channel and incomplete siding around the window (according tot he contractor on site). I am then told they have to order white siding to wrap the porch. I then call Home Depot stores in the area and ask them if they have this in stock. Every store has this item in stock. I am not confused because I was told by Doug and Terry that this has to be ordered. When I told that to Terry he did admit the item was in stock. I call the 1-800 number again for help and this time the agent laughs at me for being so upset and tells me to calm down. I hang up with her and call the 1-800 number back to report the agent. the manager is very nice and tells me she will get me in contact with John Sutton. She also promises to call me back and follow up with me. She does not follow up with me and I am unsure if she ever got a hold of this John Sutton. It is August 22nd and my job is still incomplete but my credit card was charged the entire price of the job on August 4th. I am promised the men will come back and finish on Friday but am always promised they will be here on Friday every week. I believe that this is because its the end of the week and I can't start complaining again until Monday. I would never hire Home Depot to do anything again. They promised the job would be done by the end of June. It's the end of August and the job is still not done. I am having Lowe's install my gutters even though the nearest one is across the Tappan Zee Bridge. I am very disappointed by Home Depot.

This is a perfect example of why you don't pay a retail store to hire a contractor for you. When you hire your own you can meet them, check references and set your expectations with them. You will also save money as you are not paying someone to get in the middle of the deal.

It's your job to be a responsible consumer and keep your reciept if you ever plan to return an item. On another note WARRANTIES ARE thru the MANUFACTURE, not the retail store you purchase the item at.

You should always contact the manufacture for warranty issues! Not harass the the retail employees because you don't know any better.....

Guest

I don't think your problem is the missing UPC but the fact you don't have a receipt. How do they know you bought it there or how much you paid for it.

The receipt would show all that.

They may have been able to give you some store credit if the upc had been there so the could scan it and check if they had stocked it and what it had sold for. It's not their problem you can't keep your receipt.

Delievery means curb side , Installation advertising prices, scam

This is a true story x2. . I recently wanted to purchase an electric fireplace for six hundred dollars. Home Depot would not assemble. Ok no problem. I have assemble quite a bit of furniture. But for $75 they would only deliever it curb side. That is correct. They would not bring it in the house. Let me tell u there was no way I could carry it in. I am sure it weighed over 400 lbs.. I was so angry I drove right to Lowes. I purchased a nicer fireplace, same cost, same features. They had a better selection and much better service. And guess what, I got it assemble and delievered into my home and placed exactly where I wanted it for $79. Yes same price as the nothing service at Home Depot. But wait it gets better. U know how Home Depot advertises we will floor your entire home for $499.00, labor charges. Well that is a scam. Try almost $3000.00 for my small house. The xtra molding and special pieces cost more. And my 12 steps cost $99.00 each. And that was for just the top of each step. The sides of each step I was going to paint. Oh but this was the deal breaker. I had to pay $75 to have the flooring delivered ,to the driveway and then $125 to have it brought in to my house.. Flooring must be in the home temperature for three days before they can install. I just laughed and say u got to be kidding. I remember I purchased carpeting from Lowes years ago, without a problem. Why was I even shopping at Home Depot? Well not any more. Lowes if u r out there u need to improve your on line web site. Home Depot stocks are off the charts and Lowes is hurting. Another shady fact. Please my fellow consumers, stop shopping at Home Depot. Don't let Home Depot get away with this *** service. For they put all their money into false advertising. See for yourselves. Home Depot is making Tools of US, Thank You Lowes
