Verified ReviewerHorrible Interaction with Home Depot Employee
I needed to return a malfunctioning ceiling fan that we had put together so it was all still in on piece in the back of my car. It was a rather large fan so I need help with unloading it. I pulled under the contractor canopy and asked for someone to help me take the fan out of my car and onto a flat bed. Nice young man helped and then I asked if it was ok to leave while I parked my car or if I could leave my car there while I ran in to make the exchange. He said - go ahead and leave your car - its not a problem.
So I took my fan to customer service which took a bit longer as there were no replacement fans in the spot that where I had gotten the original one from. They told me to shop around a bit while I waited for them to get one down from the rafters. As I walked around the other end of the aisle I found there were quite a few on the opposite end cap. I got my fan - went and paid and when I walked back to my car I was met by a very irate Home Depot employee who proceeded to scream at me.
He told me I had no business parking my car where I did. That I should never have pulled in there to begin with as I have no business there not being a "contractor" and that I was too lazy and privileged because I went "shopping". I tried to explain what had happened and I was told that I could leave my car in the spot while I ran in to make the exchange - he got louder and more belligerent and kept berating me in front of a group of men and other Home Depot customers. He summarized his tirade by saying that if he ever saw my face or my car again he would have "my *** towed".
I ended up ineffectively yelling an invective at him and told him I was going to find the store manager. I left and parked (apparently correctly this time) and asked to speak to the manager on duty. I shared my experience with him and he asked that I walk with him to identify the individual. Which I did and then left - as I was walking out I ran into the young man who had orginally told me it was okay to leave my car and let him know what had transpired. He was very apologetic and said its my fault - no it was not his fault that the crazy person went off on me like he did. He shared this was not an unusual reaction from this person.
Let me say - I was aware that I might block people which is why I asked if it was ok - I would have apologized and said sorry won't happen again - instead I was left shaking and practically in tears (no woman wants to break down in the middle of Home Depot...) it took me hours to finally calm down and yet today I am still in turmoil and upset. No amount of Zen can take the feeling of being violated away.
I am writing this because no customer should ever be spoken to in this manner - ever.
- Proximity and variety of goods
- Bad seed employee
Preferred solution: Apology
User's recommendation: A. Don't believe it if they tell you it's okay to park where they tell you B. Don't let the incident slide - this is how bad things happen to good people

Verified ReviewerAsking for information for user name and sending letters concerning my credit............
I have received 4 requests this year alone that were supposedly sent by Home Depot requesting my user name, and password and other information. Three of these were differently scams, (as I determined were scams) how can a person tell.
Look very close at the address that is sending you the email, if there are questionable errors and their address looks strange don't send any information.
The forth email was from Home Depot. Who wanted information that would let any one use my information to open credit anywhere. I called their customer service and told them if they don't have enough information prior to these letters, they could go ahead and cancel my card as they're warning me.
My credit with them has been perfect, mostly paid when statement is received or as required when purchased on time.
This call was recorded, and they can play back my call. I do not plan to give my information, as they can get information from their records and the credit bu-rough.
- Great products
- Poor customer service
Preferred solution: Apology
User's recommendation: Dont take chances with your credit.
They actually stole from me
On or around September 2 , 2022, I went to the Home Depot on Lima Rd in Fort Wayne, Indiana to make a return on 11 boxes of Prego hardwood flooring that I had purchased a few months prior. I hauled all the boxes in the store and then Gabrielle, whom was working customer service that shift , started on the return.
He was having difficulties processing the return and as the line grew long behind me o told him to go ahead and help the other customers in line and Ill come back in a few minutes . After around 30 min of browsing the store j went back to customer service and Gabrielle started working on my return again . He told me he wasnt sure why it wouldnt process, probably a glitch in the software . He told me to go ahead and leave all my boxes of flooring there and he would make a case for me to return .
He wrote down my phone number on a piece of paper, told me to call the store on Tuesday for an answer, then looked me in the eye and said dont worry, I got this , Im on top of it. I called the following Tuesday and an irritated sounding Gabrielle said , he hasnt heard anything Back yet on the return, assured me once again hes on top of it and told me to wait for his call. He hasnt called me back and its been well over a month. Called online customer service and told them what was happening.
They didnt see any record of a case being made but started a new one which meant even more time waiting. They said the Lima road managers typically respond back within a few hours. Never heard from the manager either so I had to call online customer service again to ask about the case. The response from the manager was she needs to talk to Gabrielle
Why would I talk to
Gabrielle , whom hasnt called me back as promised even just once.
It is very clear that Home Depot could care less and has no issue with the fact that they stole almost a dozen boxes cf flooring from me.
Breaks my heart because it was my favorite home repair store, and as a single, female, first time home buyer I really valued their expertise .
I was loyal to them but they dont care about a small customer like me . They allowed me to be ripped off inside their own store without a care in the world.

Email you can't respond to and 800 numbers that are automated and useless.
Ordered a refrigerator on 11/02/2022, to be delivered on 11/04/2022, which for no apparent reason they rescheduled delivery for 11/11/2022, which was unacceptable to me because it was veteran's day. Spent almost 2 hours on their 800 numbers which aren't helpful with my intentions, hanging up on me, stating they couldn't match my phone number, repeating the same questions I couldn't answer, etc.
Finally got a hold of a live associate and rescheduled delivery for 11/18/2022 and was surprised by delivery on 11/11/2022 who threatened to leave refrigerator on front porch. Via phone I told them that wasn't acceptable and they took it away.
Well, now bc it's the 17th and haven't received an email or call to verify tomorrow's delivery and spent another 90 minutes or more trying to reach someone on two different 800 numbers, and didn't succeed, so maybe I'll get a surprise visit tomorrow if the different associates somehow communicated my rescheduling for 11/18)2022. What a fiasco that could be so easily resolved.
I purchased a Whirlpool washing machine june 2019. Home Depot has sent out a tech 6 times so far this month to still not have it repaired
I purchased a Whirlpool washer 6/2019 from Home Depot. Within a year, clothes stayed wet.
Repair was made. 6 months ago, same problem, repair was made as I had purchased Extended Warranty from Home Depot. A month ago same problem. A tech has come to my home 6 times to repair this problem this month.
Last week he spent 3 1/2 hours in my basement. He left saying "can't fix it" only to find out that they scheduled yet another visit being the 6th this past week. Same guy left saying "I can't fix" He doesn't speak English so any questions I ask him he just stares. I keep calling the Warranty Company and Home Depot - The call goes off shore to the Philippines, and then it gets escalated to a supervisor in the Philippines who is "happy to escalate my issue".
It then goes NO WHERE. So I have been doing this for a month with no resolution. At what Point will the Warranty Company provide the buyout as stated in the contract which I purchased from Home Depot? When I called the next day this week, I found out that the tech made ANOTHER appointment to come back to my house next week (making 7 visits this month) without informing me.
How many times can they do this? I have taken off 6 days of work in the pass month - without pay as a single mother of two. Yes I am a pissed customer.
I will never ever purchase another appliance or anything if I can help it from Home Depot. Thank you for listening

Adding to existing orders is't always as easy as you might think it is. Take time ti finalize your order before you place it to avoid the hassle and possible expense of adding more later.
The truth is your web site sucks and it is definitely not the customers fault it was designed for failure.Take responsibility the customer is always right
