Home Depot Does Not Care About It's Employee's

Home Depot complaint by Angrypanda
I have been an employee for the Home Depot in Cheektowaga New York for 4 years. I have watched the company slip more and more each year. The customer service is poor because they hire people at low wages and give them next to no training. We have employees steal from us and then we later find out that they had a criminal backround. The managers are so overworked, stressed out and angry that they do little for the moral of the building. We watch them work until midnight and then come back at 5 in the morning. The raises are a joke. You can be the hardest worker in the place and get the same raise as someone who does next to nothing. We feel sorry for the customers because we know that they are getting poor service. We rarely have enough people in the store to help them and the ones who are there do not care about the customers because they are only there for the paycheck. This past year we got a new store manager whom made things a million times worse. She implimented so many changes that one by one associates and managers are leaving. We no longer have human resource managers to help and protect us. Depot fired or gave them different roles. Now it's a free for all. I am trying with all my might to find a new job and I only stay for the paycheck at this point. I advise customers to shop at other stores and I tell them what Depot has done to the employees.

The stories they are telling are so true. I was fired 2 weeks ago for so called performance in driving sales. Even though I am the number 1 specialty assistant manager in the district. The store manager was just pissed off because I let regional know that she had lost her keys and didn't report it. Plus I didn't kiss her ***. Although she gets away with *** because she kissed the district managers ***. I was a 9 year associate who worked his way up from being just a regular associate, trained other associates that became assistants and looked to in the district to solve some problems. Home Depot doesn't care for it's associates one bit. Anyone who stands up for what they believe in will be terminated even though supposably home depot has a open door policy. I have argued with the district manager because he was nothing but an idiot who didn't know his job.

All the horror stories you hear about the company are true. Home Depot does not care about its employees, their morale, or the customers. It's all about the dollar but at this rate Home Depot will not be able to swindle another dollar out of anyone. I've been with the company for 6 years and each year is worse than the previous... its sad but some stores would probably be better off Unionized...

Home Depot was screwed over by too many years of Bob Nardelli factorey style management.Customer service eroded with the morale and staffing budgets.

Now that they are trying to go back to a full-time workforce it may be too late. And even though Nardelli is gone many of the policies and attitude he instituted at Home Depot survive in lower and middle management. When I saw that he fired an internet poster in 2003 I realized what Nardelli was all about.

I've applied many times over the years.Even on the application they ask stuff they have no business asking, you wind signing away many of your rights and you see the corporate culture you're entering.I see why many Home Depot employees have neither ethusiasm or disdain for their job. They get just enough pay-slightly better than a Target or Walmart to keep them there

There are some employees that are REALLY helpful but Home Depot is nothing but a shell of what it was 10 years ago.To top it off the pricing isn't that competitive anymore,so what the incentive to shop there;service or price?I think not.

Old wise tail-if your employer doesn't train you or seriously train you they have no long range plans for you.Judging by the financial results at Home Depot I see why.

It will take years if not an entire generation to rid Home Depot of the Nardelli mindset and damaged he caused.Hang in there.
