May 16, 2008 Home Depot complaint |

I really get tired of hearing the abuse Home Depot and Lowes stores recieve as I've worked for both. Consumers wouldn't believe the way both stores are ripped off by consumers themselves. The idiotic stories go on and on as to what the stores have to deal with. Stolen items returned without receipts, items used for a job, then returned as unsatisfactory, on and on. Everyone seems to want something for nothing, and are upset when they don't get discounts or their own selfish satisfaction. I agree many have been "cheated" by contractors and sub-contractors, some employees and managers...but as a whole our employees aim to help and please. All big corperations get the blame as money hungry, disingenuous bastards. It's unfair and you ought to see it from this side. The rude, bitchy, all about me *** we deal with on a daily basis, and they're growing in numbers. We will be fired if responding to some assnine customer that is abusing us verbally and/or threatening physical violence...which happens more frequently than you would think. I must say in closing, that the spelling and grammar of the people who wrote in only confirms their educational plateau. This society has become a "what about me?" society. Pay for services rendered....then just shut up.

I too have worked for Home Depot for several years. I have seen the good the bad and the ugly in all. But I still believe that the majority of our customers are sincere and honest and will allow us to resolve any issue that may arise. But I have noticed a huge change in customers over the past 5 years and that is this "Instant Gratification and Not My Fault" mentality by taking no interest in either knowing what they are about to purchase or care to listen to the salesperson when trying to explain our services. I strongly believe that the "Customer is NOT always right" anymore. To get customer service it take two, salesperson and cutomer, to understnd each with respect and honesty.

Amen to this guy! I've worked for Home Depot for 5 years now. And I challenge anyone who hasn't worked for a big box to try it for a week or two and see it from our side. I try to remember that my customer's problem is their largest problem. But they never want to accept that I don't make the rules but if I don't follow them, I get fired.
