If your job is so terrible, I'm sure you could find work elsewhere with the current economic upturn we are experiencing. Or you could just suck it up and deal with the public, a job mind you that really isn't that tough....at all!

I work at Home Depot too and trust me, some of these people expect you to wipe their a s s for them. I know, you are the reason for our paychecks and all that, but seriously, we have jobs to do other than help inconsiderate a s s holes. People come right in and demand that we walk them around the store and obey their every demand. For God's sake take a look aroundthe store before you ask a retarded question. Where is grass seed? Did you ever think to look in the garden department??? The sign that says garden is 5' x 10' big and you can see it from the other end of the store. Don't come in and expect us to solve every little problem you have. Home Depot is NOT a mom and pop hardware store. They are a SELF-SERVICE warehouse, hence the lower prices. If you don't know to do something hire a contractor. Why should we risk our jobs by giving you advice. Anything could go wrong, and even if the customer messed up, it is still our fault, and we could be put up for extermination. I'm just going to stop now, because it doesn't matter anyway. Some snob nosed customer will just complain about us anyway. But that's ok just go ahead and make our lives living h e l l.

Dude,(Home Depot employee) You have some serious problems dealing with the public.

Yes, customers can very rude and demand a lot out the associates. Remember, the customer signs your pay check for you. Without the customer, you wouldn't have a job at all.

Yes, some customers are a pain in the butt and lie about the customer service that you provide to them. Some locations are worse than others. I worked at Home Depot for over 5 years and have seen a big decline in the way the associates are treated. This last year, the manager will write up associates for anything. One former department head even told me that the manager will make up reasons (lies) just to fire an associate. Take me, an associate that sold over $500,000 in merchandise in the garden and hardware departs over the year. I worked hard and out sold every assocaite in the store. Only to be fired because two customers lied that I didn't serve them. Didn't matter that I went out of my way to serve the general public and participate in the INFOCUS program. My dozen former customers will stop spending money at Home Depot for the simple fact that I don't work there anymore. Word travels and more and more customers will spend money in the Dpeot and hours will be slashed and stores will close down. Was it worth getting rid of an associate that generated $500,000 in sales a year? Ask the store manager.

And?

If dealing with customers bothers you get out of retail all together.

I understand the company itself might be a pain in the butt to work for but you and the company must remember it is the customer gives you both a job/money.
